Bury 3-2 Yeovil Town: Glovers leave fightback too late after dismal first half

Bury 3-2 Yeovil Town: Glovers leave fightback too late after dismal first half This is Somerset -- A second half fight back proved too little too late for Yeovil Town as three first half strikes condemned the promotion hopefuls to defeat at already-relegated Bury. The dismal opening 45 minutes ensured the Glovers ended their regular npower League One campaign on a disappointing note, even though their fourth-placed finish was a club record high. James Hayter and Kevin Dawson gave the visitors hope but an equaliser proved elusive, with the Shakers earning victory by scoring three for the only time this season. Yeovil manager Gary Johnson said: "Before they scored we had three great chances. They played with no fear, there was nothing at stake for them so they could relax a bit and they have got some players that have been around a bit. "When you're playing with no fear you can be a bit more relaxed and take your chances. I wanted to get the game back, the boys wanted to but we weren't quite able to." Injuries to Byron Webster (hamstring) and Nathan Ralph forced Johnson into two changes. Dom Blizzard started at left back and Lewis Young at right back as Luke Ayling kept the captain's armband at centre half. Paddy Madden should have given the Glovers the lead with less than a minute on the clock. Having done the hard work of chasing down keeper Cameron Belford and stealing possession the division's leading score contrived to miss the open target. The miss was punished along with static defending on five minute as Bury forged ahead. The Glovers failed to react to the second ball at a corner and Jonson Clarke-Harris was able to pick his spot through a host of statuesque visitors. A similar lack of movement nearly brought a second goal moments later, Craig Fagan casually pouncing on to a loose ball and thumping just wide. On 23 minutes Sam Foley raced away from the Bury back line and took a touch away from goal only to be denied by the well-positioned Belford. Clarke-Harris responded by carving through the Glovers' flat-footed defence and saw his shot blocked by Marek Stech. He went one better from an unnecessary free kick moments later, drilling under the jumping wall and beyond the keeper. Yeovil's afternoon went from bad to worse on 32 minutes as Nicky Ajose capitalised on Young's non-existent tackle to cut into the box and calmly slot beyond Stech. The Glovers gave themselves a glimmer of hope on 57 minutes by pulling back a goal, Hayter's bullet header converting Ed Upson's corner at the front post. Substitute Richard Hinds went close when he nodded wide and Foley scuffed over thanks to an unhelpful bounce at the end of a neat move. On 83 minutes Euan Holden gained possession just inside the area but with all the goal to aim at he leaned back and spooned over. The Glovers went straight down the end, substitute Angelo Balanta finding Dawson who could only bend the wrong side of the post. As the game entered added time Bury had two chances to put the result beyond doubt but spurned both. A brave block kept out Tom Soares before Clarke-Harris dragged a sumptuous diagonal delivery wide with Stech an imposing presence. Young, by now playing as a striker, did well to collect a clearance, beat Efe Sodje and then laid off for Dawson to rifle into the net. However, the former Northampton Town man could not level when he burst through and found Belford on form. Stech went up for the final corner of the game in search of an equaliser but was nowhere to be seen as Bury broke, replacement Gavin Williams somehow keeping out a Bury header to cap a frenetic end. *MATCH STATS* Bury (4-4-2) - Belford; Ebanks-Labell, Hughes, Sodje, Worrall; Soares, Thompson, Holden, Ajose; Fagan, Clarke-Harris. Unused subs: Lockwood, Eastham, Pratt. Goals: Clarke-Harris 5, 25, Ajose 32. Bookings: Belford (ungentlemanly conduct), Soares (ungentlemanly conduct). Corrections Retirees Can Keep Weapons Patch Marietta, GA --

Certified employees of the Department of Corrections and Pardons & Paroles will be able to keep their department-issued firearms upon retirement.

House Bill 482 will extend that courtesy to employees who have at least 20 years of service as a certified officer when the new law goes into effect on July 1.

“This legislation provides an opportunity to reward men and women who have served our state honorably and dutifully,” said Gov. Nathan Deal, who signed HB 482 on Thursday at the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association’s annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner.

“These two agencies will now have the same privileges as the Georgia State Patrol and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation when it comes to department-issued weapon retention.”

Seven tries for wing in 156-0 win

This is South Wales --

GLYNCORRWG racked up 24 tries in their 156-0 hammering of bottom team Birchgrove in division four south west.

It completed a miserable week for the Swansea side, who on Tuesday had gone down 84-5 at leaders Penlan.

Second-placed Glyncorrwg led 87-0 at half-time, and the win keeps them seven points behind Penlan with both sides having three games left to play, including a potential title-decider between the sides in the Afan Valley a week on Wednesday.

Glyncorrwg skipper, fly-half Gareth Goodridge, scored two tries and landed 18 conversions for a personal haul of 46 points, which did not break the club record, which he himself holds.

Wing Stefan Natiuk crossed for seven tries, and there were two each for wing Josh Thomas, full-back Gareth Kingman, centre Lee Bevan and flanker Damian Warlow.

Single scores went to props Steven Tremlett and Ioan Williams, flanker Steffan Williams, No. 8 Anthony Davies, centre Nathan Downs, lock Rhys Harris and scrum-half Jonathan Howells.

Penlan kept themselves in the driving seat for the title with a nine tries to one 57-14 win at Briton Ferry. They were 26-9 up at the interval.

Their try-scorers were centre James Jenkins and wing Dafydd Pritchard, with two each, plus No. 8 and skipper Robert Di'lulio, flanker Robert Green, prop Rhys Thomas, centre Nathanial Llewellyn and wing Luke Davies.

Full-back Scott Davies landed six conversions.

Centre Jonny Fields scored all the points for Briton Ferry.

Against Birchgrove in midweek, Penlan scored 14 tries, including four for wing Dafydd Pritchard and three for flanker Adam Glover.

In the other games in four south west, Pontardawe lost 21-18 at home to Bryncethin and Nantyffyllon beat visitors Bridgend Sports 56-3. Reported by This is 3 hours ago.

This is South Wales --

CWMGORS might yet win the hotly contested division five south west title after jumping from third to first place in four days. Cwmgors won 29-0 at home to Glais in midweek and followed up that bonus-point success with a 50-39 victory on Saturday at fourth-placed Baglan, which means they have a one-point lead with only three games remaining.

Baglan made a real game of it and scored six tries through centre Anthony Rogers (2), No. 8 David Palmer (2), flanker Riley Kehoe and wing Daniel Gadd. Rogers added three conversions and a penalty.

Cwmgors had two hat-trick men in No. 8 Richard Greig and fly-half Steff Rees, and wing Lee Howells also crossed. Rees converted six of them and landed a penalty.

Long-time leaders Penybanc are hot on Cwmgors's heels and had a superb 60-10 win at home to Cwmtwrch, who dropped to third as a result.

Former Wales U21 skipper Matthew Brayley scored four tries for Penybanc and wing Nathan Jones got three. No. 8 Chris Jones, wing Gavin Madge and permitted Blaenau scrum-half Ioan Jones also crossed.

Full-back Wayne Williams landed two conversions and two penalties.

Tomorrow Cwmgors are at Cwmgwrach, while on Wednesday Penybanc are home to Banwen and Cwmtwrch host Llandybie.

Alltwen beat Ystradgynlais 26-12 at Ynyscedwyn Road, despite Ystrad getting off to a great start with a try by young fly-half Steffan Jones.

Centre and skipper Ioan Kemp also crossed, while for Alltwen, lock Tim Middleton, scrum-half James Graham, centre Sam Steel and prop Alun Dew touched down.

Steel converted two of them and fellow centre Adam Thornton one.

Cwmgwrach won 19-16 at home to Glais. Reported by This is 3 hours ago.
