Stanley Cup: Nathan Horton will play for Boston Bruins

Stanley Cup: Nathan Horton will play for Boston Bruins CHICAGO -- The Boston Bruins will indeed have Nathan Horton in the lineup for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final on Saturday night.

Horton declared himself healthy enough to play after Saturday's morning skate. He's been battling a shoulder injury that forced him to leave Game 1 midway through the first overtime.

“He feels really good and looked really good out there and there's no reason he shouldn't play tonight,” said Bruins coach Claude Julien.

Getting Horton back is a big break for the Bruins. He's their top winger and one of the top scorers so far in the playoffs with 18 points.

If he was out, it might have been up to a rookie -- like Jordan Caron -- to take his roster spot, while Tyler Seguin, who is struggling offensively, would have taken Horton's spot on the top line.

The Blackhawks certainly respect what Horton means to the top line with David Krejci and Milan Lucic.

“You look at his plus-minus (a league-best plus-22), you wonder sometimes plus-minus might be misleading,” said Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville. “You watch him play another night and you say it's not a fluke.

“That line has been very effective and efficient. I know that line certainly gave us something to be concerned with from the start of that game and ongoing.”

The only Bruin missing from the morning skate was veteran Jaromir Jagr. He will play, said Julien.

“He's 100 per cent,” said Julien. “He's 41.”

*PAGE TURNERS:* The Boston Bruins are all about turning the page. They get to do that Saturday night -- get people to stop talking about their Game 1 collapse and triple overtime loss -- and to start talking about Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Chicago Blackhawks.

“Having the day off , after what happened in Game 1 is definitely forgotten,” said Bruins forward Milan Lucic. “You talk about every game in the playoffs, finding a way to turn the page. As important as Game 1 was, it's forgotten and we're focussing on on Game 2.”

It's the first time in the 2013 playofs the Bruins have trailed in a series. But the Bruins have faced adversity before.

Back when they won the Cup, they trailed in the opening series to Montreal and in the Final to Vancouver. It's by and large the same team today.

“You hope that experience helps you along the way,” said Lucic. “Every series is significant and different in its own way. You come in here wanting to win game 1. If your'e unable to do that, you're focus goes on winning Game 2.”

*LINE JUGGLING:* Hawks coach Joel Quenneville keeps juggling his lines. New ones debuted Friday.

Michal Handzus centred Patrick Kane and Patrick Sharp. Dave Bolland centred Bryan Bickell and Andrew Shaw. Viktor Stalberg was odd man out again.

“Most of the guys over the course of the season play with one another,” Quenneville said. “Sometimes it's the matchup. Sometimes it's mixing it up. Guys on a merit basis look like they're playing well. They both go hand in hand.

*Too many men:* The Blackhawks had a grand total of two too-many men penalties in regular season and in their first 17 playoff games for having too many men on the ice.

In Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final they had two in the three overtime periods.

“Kind of a weird thing,” said Quenneville. “One guy came onto the ice, got hit with the puck. The other one, throw it to fatigue; it was late in the period.

“Sometimes you get stuck at the bench playing a puck maybe you shouldn't have. Sometimes you get a guy coming to the bench, goes back in to play. It can happen. But we were fortunate to dodge two bullets at very important times.”

Kings of Leon – review

$

O2 Arena, London

Kings of Leon gigs tend to fall into one of two categories. There are the rock'n'roll shows, static affairs in which the Tennessee rock band stand around, proving their fitness for Big Arena Rock Club membership by means other than electrifying stagecraft. The lusty wail of "Oh, whoa! Your sex is on fire!"– the chorus of Kings of Leon's 2008 hit, Sex on Fire – remains their most reliable trump card tonight, as 20,000-odd fans join in like a wolf pack renouncing celibacy.

Then there are the band's rather too eventful shows. Most infamously, the St Louis Pigeon Incident of 2010 saw a winged critic dropping some guano into bassist Jared Followill's mouth (the show was abandoned).

Two years ago there was the Dallas Vomit Meltdown, in which singing guitarist Caleb Followill – struggling with the heat and voice problems – excused himself, saying: "I'm gonna go backstage and I'm gonna vomit, I'm gonna drink a beer and I'm gonna come back out and play three more songs."

He never made good on the last two promises, at least. The show was abandoned, as was the rest of the tour. The band took time off to recuperate from what was reported variously as exhaustion (official sources) and "internal sicknesses and problems… bigger than not drinking more Gatorade" (a tweet from Jared Followill). The band regrouped, married lingerie models, had some babies and wrote another album.

These summer shows are tasked with whetting appetites for Mechanical Bull, the band's sixth opus, due out in late September. Tonight that glad event is heralded by Supersoaker, a lively new cut that harks back to the pace and melody of Kings of Leon's first two albums, but sung with latter-day intensity by Caleb.

Kings of Leon are probably quite grateful that this first of two London gigs falls into the first, less eventful category. A fortnight ago, an appearance at New York's Governor's Ball festival had to be postponed from Friday to Saturday due to storms, scuppering their planned album title announcement. (Mother Nature may have been having a little joke at the expense of Supersoaker.)

Certainly, at the O2 Kings of Leon maintain their position as rightful occupiers of large venues, booming out songs from their ample back catalogue abetted by strobes and screens. One particularly persistent camera is located just behind the drummer. If fans didn't know Nathan had a tattoo of a bear pawprint on his right shoulder (which matches one of Caleb's) and what looks like a wishbone on his right triceps, they sure do now, after repeated cuts to it by the vision mixer.

The presence of touring multi-instrumentalist Christopher Coleman (percussion, guitar, keyboards, you name it) ensures the band's sound is meaty and bold. But much of tonight's set seems bogged down in its own bigness. Caleb introduces Cold Desert with the caveat that he is "shaking in his boots" because the band haven't played the song in a long time. You realise why they haven't – it seems leaden live, with Caleb's revealing lyrics – "Jesus don't love me/ No one ever carried my load/ I'm too young to feel this old"– lost in the atmospherics.

Halfway through the main set they play a second new song even livelier than Supersoaker. It Don't Matter boasts a punky, low-slung bassline and nagging chorus that seem to confirm the band's claim that Mechanical Bull will be less like their last album, Come Around Sundown (a relatively low-seller after the commercial high of Only By the Night), and more like their first two albums, in which fun was paramount.

With drummer Nathan's glasses gone and his muscles bulging, and Caleb's hair receding, they are barely recognisable as the southern hipster honey monsters who made Molly's Chambers 10 long years ago. Tonight's version of the song retains a little of their youthful vigour, if not that era's lightness of touch.

They become more energised in the encore. Guitarist Matthew Followill, still a schoolboy when the band started, plays guitar with his teeth on Closer. At the end, Caleb balls up his set list and throws it to a fan. Matthew and Nathan are very generous with the picks and drumsticks, dispensing these little trophies to fans in the front rows. For now, though, they're keeping the rest of the new Mechanical Bull songs closer to their chests. Reported by guardian.co.uk 1 day ago.

Cook hits 64 but NZ dismiss England for 169 in CT

*Skipper Alastair Cook cracked a chancy half-century as New Zealand dismissed England for 169 in their crucial rain-curtailed 24 overs-a-side Group A match of the Champions Trophy here today.*

New Zealand paid the price for their sloppy fielding as skipper Cook took them to the cleaners, blasting a 47-ball 64, studded with two sixes and four boundaries.

Cook, who was dropped by Nathan McCullum thrice, anchored the England innings with two crucial partnerships. He forged a 75-run third wicket stand with Joe Root and then added 41 runs in 26 balls with Eoin Morgan for the fourth wicket.

But once he was caught and bowled by Nathan in the 19th over, England lost their way and could add only 28 runs losing the remaining six wickets.

Kyle Mills (4/30) and Mitchell McClenaghan (3/36) shared seven wickets between them, while Daniel Vettori and Nathan took one each after New Zealand decided to bowl.

More than half the match was lost after rains lashed Cardiff and the Sophia Gardens was mostly under covers throughout the day.

Good work by the groundstaff enabled a late afternoon start after the rains relented, but sky remained overcast.

Interestingly, the toss happened at its scheduled time at 10 AM local time and New Zealand opted to field obviously keeping the weather forecast in mind.

The Kiwis will be guaranteed a place in the semis if they gain two full points.

The match finally started under lights. Reported by Deccan Herald 5 hours ago.

Alastair Cook relieved as England reach Champions Trophy semi-finals

$

• Captain admits to nerves as England edge home by 10 runs
• Graeme Swann likely to be rested again for semi-final

England remain on course to win a first major one-day trophy on home soil after dodging the showers and slithering past New Zealand to reach the Champions Trophy semi-finals on a long and tense day in the Welsh capital. But Graeme Swann may be a frustrated spectator for the rest of the tournament after missing the game with a calf strain, as England refuse to take any chances on his fitness before the Ashes.

Swann also missed the opening victory over Australia with a stiff back and Alastair Cook, the captain who was man of the match for making 64 from 47 balls, said England would be happy to stick with his off-spin deputy, James Tredwell, for the semi-final — which is likely to be against South Africa at The Oval on Wednesday, barring an Australia capitulation against Sri Lanka in the last match in the group on Monday.

"We're obviously going to play it safe with Swanny," said Cook. "He won't be risked. He's got a tight calf and it depends on how he pulls up in the next couple of days. We're very lucky in that department to have two fantastic bowlers — Tredders was outstanding again and you could say he was unlucky not to play in our last match. He is more than just a back-up."

Cook admitted that relief was his major emotion throughout the day, first when the steady morning rain relented in time to allow a 24-over match to start at 3.45pm – and much later when Stuart Broad came agonisingly close to being denied the key wicket of Kane Williamson for bowling a no-ball.

Williamson had scored 67 from 54 balls and his partnership of 73 in 47 balls with Corey Anderson was threatening to take New Zealand into the semis at England's expense, when he was coolly caught by Jimmy Anderson at mid-off. But the on-field umpire, Rod Tucker, called for video assistance because he suspected that Broad might have overstepped the crease and the bowler was spared only by the benefit of the doubt because the replays were inconclusive.

"If it was given as a no-ball we couldn't have had any complaints," added Cook. "Broady said it might be close – I didn't realise it was that close. It's always fine margins, isn't it? It was a nerve-racking time for the captain. With the rain about, it was great to get the opportunity to keep it in our own hands – a relief to be able to get on and put in a pretty good performance. We just wanted to get through to the semi- finals. To be honest we don't mind who we play. We're just glad we're there."

Cook made a small slice of personal history by hitting two sixes in a one-day innings for the first time in 70 appearances, taking his overall tally to eight. "I thought that would keep you entertained," he added with a smile. "What I found really hard was knowing what a good score was. Maybe we set ourselves a little bit high in the end and ended up scoring lower than we should have."

New Zealand now find themselves in the unusual and uneasy position of willing Australia to beat Sri Lanka at The Oval to allow them to claim a back-door entrance to the second semi-final against India in Cardiff on Thursday. "We'll see what unfolds," said their captain, Brendon McCullum, with a grin. "We would love Australia to play some excellent cricket. We just hope the cards go our way. But it's never nice when your destiny is in someone else's hands. We had a chance here and passed it up."

His elder brother, Nathan, was the most obvious offender, having dropped Cook three times in his innings, on 14, 37 and 45 – although he also took four catches as the ball continued to follow him around. "He's a brilliant fielder, Nathan, and he's still up in terms of his fielding ability," added the captain. "But obviously that makes it hard." Reported by guardian.co.uk 3 hours ago.

Care home business reaches IiP standard

The Stonehaven Care Group has been awarded Investors in People (IiP) accreditation.

Established in 1996 the Buckfastleigh-based residential care firm submitted the running of eight homes for the consideration of IiP inspectors.

They carried out inspections in six homes over three days before awarding the standard.

Director Nathan Stone said: "We undertook Investors in People at this time for two main reasons. Firstly, because we were cautiously confident that we would achieve recognition and secondly because we were keen to use the thorough assessment process as a review of what we do in order to identify areas where improvements can be made." Mott hails the acquisition of Kiwi McCullum for Glam's T20 assault

Mott hails the acquisition of Kiwi McCullum for Glam's T20 assault This is South Wales --

NATHAN McCullum will be hoping to replicate his brother's headline-grabbing performances for Glamorgan after signing for the Welsh county for their forthcoming T20 campaign.

The Kiwi all-rounder has been drafted in to replace Aussie pace bowler Dirk Nannes, whose arrival at the Swalec Stadium was scuppered by a back injury.

McCullum was in action in Cardiff yesterday — for New Zealand against England in a rain-affected Champions Trophy match.

And he follows in the footsteps of younger brother Brendon — the Black Caps skipper — who enjoyed a spell with Glamorgan in 2006.

During his time at the county the hard-hitting wicket-keeper smashed an 18-ball half century in one T20 contest at the Swalec Stadium.

And while Nathan may not offer the same pyrotechnics as his brother, he is a shrewd acquisition for Matthew Mott's men.

The 32-year-old is an experienced off-spinner and provides valuable lower-order runs, as he showed in a man-of-the-match performance for New Zealand in their thrilling Champions Trophy win over Sri Lanka last week.

"I'm looking forward to joining up with the Glamorgan squad at the end of this month," said McCullum, who has played nearly a century of T20 matches for his country.

"I've spent a bit of time in Cardiff over the past few weeks and have enjoyed playing at the Swalec Stadium.

"Spin bowling plays an important role in T20 cricket and I hope to be able to help the team progress to the knock-out stages." McCullum will be the Dragons' second overseas player for the tournament, joining Aussie batsman Marcus North.

Glamorgan's head of elite performance Mott said: "We are delighted to have secured Nathan's services for this year's Friends Life t20 competition.

"He is an experienced T20 cricketer and we believe he will be a valuable addition to our squad."

Meanwhile, Glamorgan's hopes of a second LV= County Championship victory of the season were frustrated once again as their clash with Kent at Canterbury petered out into a draw.

The Welsh county had gone into the final day with expectations high, with Kent struggling on 254-4, a lead of only 11 having been asked to follow on.

But a partnership of 163 for the fifth wicket between Ben Harmison (64) and Darren Stevens (119) took the game away from Glamorgan with Kent eventually declaring on 489-9 to bring proceedings to a close. Left-arm spinner Dean Cosker finished with figures of 5-120.

The draw, Glamorgan's fourth of the season, keeps Mark Wallace's side in seventh place in the second division table, although they do have a game in hand over all but one of the sides above them.

Glamorgan are next in action on Wednesday when they take on Leicestershire Foxes in a YB40 tie at Grace Road. Reported by This is 16 hours ago.

Leicestershire v Somerset: Foxes left reeling in YB40 clash

This is Leicestershire --

A nightmare start ultimately cost Leicestershire Foxes dearly as they lost by five wickets in their YB40 Group C clash against Somerset in Taunton.

County were never able to gain sufficient momentum after crashing to 49-7 by the 13th over.

A plucky unbeaten 49 by Michael Thornely helped the Foxes recover to 124 all out, but they were always going to struggle to defend that against Somerset.

The hosts made hard work of their target, but they managed to get across the line, finishing 127-5 off 21.3 overs to retain the Group C leadership.

Craig Kieswetter led the way with 50 and Marcus Trescothick made 28, while Nathan Buck was the pick of the Foxes attack with 3-25.

Craig Meschede took his wicket tally in this season's YB40 to 20 as the hosts got off to an explosive start.

The 21-year-old all-rounder confirmed his position as the leading wicket-taker in the competition by claiming 4-5 from his five overs as the visitors were restricted to 124 all out after losing the toss in a match reduced to 25 overs per side by rain.

Alfonso Thomas returned 3-30 on his return after a hamstring injury.

Steve Kirby and Thomas created pressure with tight opening overs, Thomas removing openers Niall O'Brien (0) and Josh Cobb (16), the latter having gone into the game with an average of 104 in the competition this season.

Meschede had Greg Smith caught at mid-wicket with his sharp medium-pace and then switched to the Old Pavilion End to rip the heart out of the middle order by sending back Joe Burns, followed by Shiv Thakor and Rob Taylor with successive balls.

The only resistance came from Thornely, with a little support from Anthony Ireland, who contributed 27 to a ninth-wicket stand of 44.

Somerset lost Peter Trego, the competition's leading run-maker, to Ireland early in their reply, but had moved to 60 in the ninth over when Trescothick was bowled by a length ball from left-arm seamer Taylor for 28.

Kieswetter, in his first innings since recovering from a thumb injury, looked in good form at number three.

But he had started walking off when dropped on 32 by Matthew Boyce at deep mid-wicket off Thakor.

He went on to his half-century off 41 balls, with six fours and a six and had put Somerset within 29 of victory when caught behind, edging a cross-batted shot off Buck.

Dean Elgar and James Hildreth also perished to Buck to give Leicestershire a glimmer of hope.

But Nick Compton and Alex Barrow batted cautiously to complete the job with plenty in hand, Compton securing victory with a six off Taylor. Reported by This is 17 hours ago.

TX Orthopedic Surgeons, Dr. Mollabashy and Dr. Gilbert, Treat All Types of Soft Tissue Sarcomas

Drs. Mollabashy and Gilbert of Greater Dallas Orthopaedics diagnose and treat both malignant and benign tumors of bones and soft tissues in adults and children, including any type of soft tissue sarcoma.

Soft tissue sarcoma is a type of cancer in which a malignant tumor forms in fat, muscle, nerves, blood vessels, fibrous tissue or the lining of the joints. While sarcomas are not very common, they can be quite serious - especially if diagnosed in a later stage. Luckily, there are options - Dr. Al Mollabashy and Dr. Nathan Gilbert of Greater Dallas Orthopaedics use their combined experience and expertise to treat these tumors.

While the causes of soft tissue sarcomas are currently unknown, research suggests some cases may be hereditary. In other cases, radiation may play a role - usually as a side effect of radiation therapy used in the treatment of other cancers. This risk may be reduced over time, as technology advances and more closely targets the initial malignant areas.

Like other cancers, treatment depends on the size, location, type, and stage of the sarcoma. Radiation and chemotherapy may be used, but surgery is the most common treatment option, especially in cases where malignant cells have not traveled to other areas of the body. Often, radiation and chemotherapy may be used to initially shrink the size of the tumor (neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy), or to kill off any remaining cancer cells (adjuvant chemoradiotherapy).

At Greater Dallas Orthopaedics, Drs. Mollabashy and Gilbert work to develop individualized treatment plans for each patient. Both surgeons communicate with the referring medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, and primary physician to ensure that patients receive the highest level of care and best possible results from their treatment. Both surgeons treat every kind of soft tissue sarcoma, and have extensive knowledge experience in the field of orthopedic surgery.

Many clients travel to Greater Orthopaedics from great distances to receive their expert oncology care. Using their vast expertise and experiences, Dr. Mollabashy and Dr. Gilbert can help to effectively diagnose and treat all types of soft tissue sarcomas.

'Teen Mom' Week in Review: Jenelle Poses in Bed With Her Boyfriend, Leah and Jeremy Film Season 5 and more

And we're back with this week's Teen Mom Week in Review, which is full of everything from nip slips to baby bumps. Keep reading to see what the lovely MTV ladies (and their gents) have been up to in the past few days and why we now know that season 5 is totally back on...

*Photos: Who Took Home The Prize for Best Teen Mom Baby Daddy?*

Nope, there still hasn't been an official announcement from MTV that Teen Mom 2 season 5 is underway, but we're not idiots. We know it's a go, guys! For one, a tattoo parlor employee confirmed that an MTV crew was present when *Javi Marroquin* went in with *Kailyn* to get another tattoo. And two? This!* **Leah Calvert* tweeted about a camera crew following her and Jeremy around in Las Vegas, where this adorable new pic was taken. Can't fool us, MTV.

*Kailyn Lowr*y still hasn't confirmed her pregnancy (though those baby bump pics don't lie), but she's already picking out baby names! Kail tweeted that she is thinking of the name Coco for a baby girl, but that her friend wasn't so into the idea. This doesn't mean Kail's having a girl necessarily, maybe just that she wants one. Because let's be real, Isaac would be super cute with a baby sister.

*Poll: Vote for Teen Mom As Your Favorite Show About Pregnancy*

And speaking of really cute baby girls, *Chelsea Houska* and Aubree have officially launched a website! ChelseasChoices.com is Chelsea's new fashion site where she'll be sharing her style picks with her fans and highlighting new pieces in her jewelry collection that are available for purchase. Seriously hoping there are going to be leopard print dog accessories on there, because that's what Chelsea's fans really want. Let's be real.

Oh, and we might as well throw this in because it's cute—here's Chelsea's daughter Aubree leaning on the baby belly of Adam's soon-to-be baby mama, *Taylor Halbur*. Guess she's all set to be a big (half) sis!

And speaking of semi-scandalous pics, check out *Jenelle Evans*' latest photo with her boyfriend, Nathan, which is probably more graphic than any of these other pics of them together. Is she trying to show off her back tattoo or her favorite position for um, napping? We'll let you decide.

*Photos: Twitter Pics of Jenelle Evans and Nathan Griffith*

As for the original Teen Mom girls? *Maci Bookout'*s gearing up for a dance competition! Nope, she's not on Dancing With The Stars (yet), but Bentley's mama is partaking in a local competition called Dare to Dance which is a fundraiser, too. Peep the pretty pic of her and her dance partner!

Oh right, *Farrah Abraham.* How could we forget? After Farrah confirmed the news that she got a second boob job—she went from a C cup to a solid D—she suffered a bit of a nip slip at an event in Las Vegas. Too small bikini or too big boobs? We're gonna go with both (but mostly the latter).

Marvel Entertainment, Netflix, 10gen and Oracle lead the All-Star speaker faculty at this industry-leading database conference.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 18, 2013

DATAVERSITY™ today announced this year’s keynote speakers for its 2013 NoSQL Now! Conference and Exhibition. This year’s line-up will include NoSQL heavy hitters including Adrian Cockcroft of Netflix, Max Schireson of 10gen, and Andy Mendelsohn of Oracle. The program will also include technology pioneers Nathan Marz, the creator of Storm, and Peter Olson, digital comic innovator at Marvel Entertainment. NoSQL Now! takes place August 20-22 at the San Jose Convention Center, in the heart of Silicon Valley.

“Keynote speakers should provide both thought leadership and industry guidance, and we have both in abundance at this year’s conference,” said Tony Shaw, CEO of DATAVERSITY and co-chair of NoSQL Now! “This year will be crucial to the evolution of the marketplace, as incumbent database giants like Oracle start to compete more aggressively with NoSQL market leaders like 10gen. It’s a clear indication that NoSQL databases are here to stay.”

Kicking off the keynote presentations on Wednesday, August 21st, Andy Mendelsohn of Oracle, will discuss Oracle NoSQL Database and what customers can expect to see from this software giant as the demand for huge, high-performance data continues to expand.

Then Nathan Marz, recently at Twitter and the creator of the real-time computation engine Storm, will talk about real-time computation. Marz was the lead engineer at BackType before being acquired by Twitter in 2011, where he started the streaming compute team which provides and develops shared infrastructure to support many critical realtime applications throughout the company.

Adrian Cockcroft, Director of Architecture for the Cloud Systems team at Netflix, will give his keynote presentation on Managing Scale and Complexity. Cockcroft leads the open source NetflixOSS program and the Netflix Cloud Prize (see http://netflix.github.com) and is also a well-known author of several books.

Peter Olson is a digital comic pioneer using NoSQL technology to solve real-world problems in the immense “fictional” universe at Marvel Entertainment, by modeling people, places and things using graph analysis.

And Max Schireson, the CEO of NoSQL market leader 10gen, will provide a perspective on the state of the database market, and in particular the role carved out by NoSQL products.

In addition, this year’s conference will host an impressive expo floor of the latest high-performance data solutions, and leading vendors will demonstrate dozens of innovations. This year’s sponsors include 10gen, GridGain, Objectivity, Oracle, FoundationDB, MapR Technologies, Cloudant, Couchbase, 28msec, Acunu, Aerospike. Neo Technology and YarcData. Attendees will have the rare opportunity to gain over 6 months of product research and education in just 3 days. For more information on sponsorship or opportunities to promote your products and services, please contact Warwick Davies at warwick(at)dataversity(dot)net.
